Hello,
I've been happily using remote desktop between my Windows XP Prof
machines. My "terminal" has SP2, the remote was SP1. When I "upgraded" the
remote machine to SP2 remote desktop stopped working. I've got the checkboxes
ticked to allow remote desktop and remote assistance and the firewall is set
up to allow port 3389. However RD doesn't even work if I turn off the
firewall. I can see the shared folders on the remote machine from my terminal
so the network seems fine. I don't get an error when I try to connect, the
"connect" button simply depresses then undepresses instantly, nothing else
happens. I can see the attempted connection in my remote machine firewall log
(iin which I've replaced the actual IP addresses with <my ip> <remote ip> for
posting purposes), e.g....
2005-08-27 19:08:38 OPEN-INBOUND TCP <my ip> <remote ip> 2119 3389 - - - - -
- - - -
2005-08-27 19:08:38 CLOSE TCP <my ip> <remote ip> 3389 2119 - - - - - - - - -
any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance,
Tim
