Remote Desktop ActiveX Control

Setting up new laptop and I had none of these problems on 7 other computers:

Connecting to the RWW: From company internal website, clicking on the RWW
link, I get: "This portion of the remote web workplace requires the microsoft
remote desktop activex control. Your browser's security settings may be
preventing you from downloading activex controls. Adjust these settings, and
try to connect again."

Connecting to the Client: And from the RWW (accessed in another manner)
when trying to connect remotely to the client, I get: "Remote Desktop Web
Connection ActiveX control could not be installed. A connection cannnot be
made without a working installed version of the control Please contact the
server administrator."

Please help. I am the administrator. I have added my server to trusted
sites, created the certificate, installed IIS and remote desktop. Security
is set to low on trusted sites (probably dangerous, and it doesn't solve my
problem).
 
Are they XP SP3? We have seen many cases like thins one. You may need to add
the RDP Client Control to IE add-on. This search result may help. Please
post back with the result.

Yes, I have XP3.
My steps looked slightly different than the example you referred me to. I
did this:
1. Run IE.
2. Click Tools>Manage Add-on.
3. Select category "Add-ons that have been used by IE"
4. Highlight Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control (redist).
5. Select Enable and click OK to add the RDP Client Control
6. Restart IE

Both error messages disappeared.

Hi,

I am having similar problems with my PC running XP SP3.

I too have managed to get this running on other machines, but on my home PC
after dowloading and installing the above, the Terminal Services Client
Control is not appearing at all when I go into 'Manage Add-ons' so I cannot
get past the all too familiar 'This portion of the Remote Web Workplace
requires the Microsoft Remote Desktop ActiveX Control'

Any suggestions gratefully received

I have this same problem. It appears this is not an unusual problem. We
have done many this to get this remote connection:
My computer is a AMD duel core with Home XP. I am trying to connect to my
work computer and get this message: This portion of the Remote Web Workplace
requires the Microsoft Remote Desktop ActiveX Control. The things we have
done are: uninstall SP3, Internet Options-Security checks, added website to
Trusted Sites, inactivated Kaspersky, my security and Ad aware . The same
message comes up on Firefox. We have 3 computers in the house, this being the
newest and fastest. Something keeps me from downloading ActiveX for this
program. The compuer downloads ActiveX as needed for other programs/websites.
I need this for my job.
Manage Add on only has 2 options: Enable or disable, everything is enabled
and Find other Add on.
At this point, any suggestion would be helpful.

I have exactly the same problem as June which began about two months ago. I
previously could use RWW from my home with XP Home. Now I cannot download
the Microsoft Remote Desktop ActiveX control. I tried all the methods June
tried and have the same issue -- the ActiveX control will not download and is
not present in Add-ons. My office IT staff have tried everything and can't
solve the problem. Others at work with XP Home SP3 do not have the problem.

As a work around I use Remote Desktop Connetion (a utility in
Programs>Accessories) to attach to our company application server to get a
desktop. I can then open Explorer and access our main server and then access
my workstation desktop. Our application server has no problem downloading
the ActiveX control and running Remote Web Workplace.

Hello Robert:

I have the same problem as Sammie but I do not see RDP or Terminal client
in the list of add ons. If I did see them I could enable them. ColinWH posted
deleting

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{7390f3d8-0439-4c05-91e3-cf5b290c3d0}
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{4eb89ff4-7f78-4aof-8b8d-2bfo2e94e4b2}

I tried this and I still do not see Terminal Services Client or RDP in the
Mange Addons to enable.

Any other suggestions.

My situation is the same. I do not see RDP in the list of add ons. I cannot
download the ActiveX control either. I've seen this situation described on
at least two other tech groups. No one seems to have an answer but the
problem seems to affect a number of us.

Remote Web Workplace doesn't actually use the "Remote Desktop Connection"
program that’s normally used to access a machine directly. It connects using
an ActiveX control that allows Internet Explorer to run Remote Desktop. The
plugin is required when using the RWW and is displayed in internet options,
Programs, Manage Add-Ons window as 'Microsoft Terminal Services Client
Control (redist)'.
The problem with new installs of XP SP3 is the ActiveX control never gets
installed properly in the first place, or you could just go to the Manage
Add-Ons and activate the MSTSC client control plug-in.
Delete the following Registry Key, and then you will be able to install the
activex control as needed. This is a per user setting, so you’ll have to do
it for every user affected by this issue.
NOTE: As usual, backup any registry keys you delete as a precaution
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{7584C670-2274-4EFB-B00B-D6AABA6D3850}
We’re not sure of the security impact at this point, so you should do your
own testing prior to deploying to a production machine.
 
Gonna start to cry soon...

Would really appreciate some help on this one... I've been trying to solve this issue for weeks now... I have it on several different PCs at different locations, using different browsers (IE7, IE8, FF, Chrome) and I have tried EVERY solution that can be found through googling it.

The registry key doesn't exist, the add-on doesn't show up in manage add-ons to be enabled (and can't be obtained from anywhere to be installed it seems, atleast not without the installation stopping after telling me it's an older update than the current one). I've done all the bits and pieces with the trusted root certificates and the trusted zones, etc..., and it's not spyware causing it.

Still nothing. I think that there is finally a problem for which there simply is no fix

I'm at my wits end, anyone know what can be done?
 
Thanks RTSIT, that did the trick for us! We also found that by making the
same edit under HKEY_USERS\.Default, new users would not have the
{7584C670-2274-4EFB-B00B-D6AABA6D3850} key in their profile.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I've been looking for the answer to this
for almost a year now! I can finally connect to my computer at work. IT guy
at work was stumped. You are a god send. :)

but what should i do i am getting the same problem but i m using sp2
