Remote Desktop abuse

My girlfriend has a hunch that her roommate and her boyfriend have been
accessing her computer through Remote Desktop, or some other remote access
program, and messing with stuff, since her and her roommates don't get along.
It seems weird that they'd go through so much trouble. Nontheless, I
decided to take a look and see if I could find anything that would blatantly
suggest that they were, but didn't have any luck. Is there anything I could
check, like a log or anything, that would tell me when her computer might
have been accessed remotely?

Best thing to do is to shut it off.

Open Control Panel - System - Remote and make sure the checkbox for
"Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" is clear.

If this checkbox was not selected then Remote Desktop was not being
used. although other remote access programs might have been. However
these programs would have to be installed onto her computer and
configured. You can probably identify any such program by using
Start - Run - MSCONFIG and checking the items that are listed in the
Startup tab.

Also if you want to leave Remote Desktop on her computer but just
block the others from using it then simply change her password and
don't tell the roommates what the new password is. Also delete any
user accounts that may have been set up for the roommates on the
computer.
