hi
i have the following 2 computer systems in my home network connected by my
ISP's router/ADSL modem:
#1 Desktop (HOST) - Windows XP Professional SP2 - ethernet connection to
router/modem
#2 Laptop - Windows Vista Home Premium - wireless connection
both OS's have the latest patches and both systems are able to ping the other.
i want to be able to connect to my desktop remotely from the laptop witin my
house to check email etc on the HOST computer.
What I have done so far:
~ setup HOST computer to enable Remote Desktop Connection
~ administrator added to the Remote Users list
~ added Remote Desktop and Remote Administration to the Windows Firewall
Exception list
When I run Remote Desktop Connection on the laptop, using:
~ the Host Computer name (IP address also tried)
~ login using Admin username / password
the following error messages is returned:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
REMOTE DESKTOP DISCONNECTED
This computer can't connect to the remote computer.
Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the
remote computer or your network administrator.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
any help is greatly appreciated
