I have a Windows 2000 professional laptop and I want to be
able to dial into my desktop at home and remote control
it. I have installed the Terminal service client
msrdpcli.exe on both windows 2000 professional
workstations but I am having difficulties dialing in. I
get an error saying the port is not open when I dial into
the other computer.
Is there a trick to this?
How do I link the dial function with the remote control
function?

There are two components to terminal services: the client
and the server. The client you downloaded works perfectly
as the client, but you need a server to connect to.
However, Windows 2000 Pro doesn't support this service, so
you can't connect successfully. You should look into
using a different piece of software if you are trying to
remotely control things. Try PCAnywhere or VNC or
NetMeeting,

-M

W2K Pro does not have the Remote Desktop functionality. You can
install the *client* and connect to a Terminal Server or XP Pro, but
you cannot make a W2K Pro desktop act like a Terminal server.
