I don't seem to be making any headway connecting my home pc to my office pc. Both pc's are running WindowsXP Pro. No connection is made either way. Have set up the office pc to receive a connection, but nothing. Can ping my home pc from the office, but cannot ping from home to office. Tracert works just fine both ways

The office has a small peer-to-peer network (three machines), disabeling them is no help. Have tried PCanywhere 10.5 to no end. Help

Is the office machine behind a firewall/NAT/router? If so you need to forward TCP Port 3389 in order
to use Remote Desktop, which I presume you trying to use. Call using the public IP of the
firewall/NAT/router...

I have had been using remote desktop between my office computer and home... bolth have software firewalls
what I did is I put into the firewall the IP address of the incomming computer (IE Home trying to link into work computer) and the other way around.. (IE work computer tring to link to home computer) you just have to make sure that they are static IP's and you have the right login / domain put into the advanced fields of the remote desktop
