Remote boot image/SDI problem

I'm a new user trying to follow the documentation. My ultimate aim is to create
a diskless, headless target. In the documentation section "Preparing a Remote
Boot Image for Deployment" I am instructed to create an SDI disk and I should
"not choose to create the volume as a dynamic disk." My development environment
is Windows 2000 and the Disk Management tool only allows me to create the volume
as a dynamic disk. Now what?

I suppose the language in the documentation came from a scenario where
XP was used as the development environment. I use 2000 and apparently
the scenario is different. The volume is always created as a dynamic
disk and there is no opportunity in the creation process to prevent
that. However after creation, one can use Disk Management to revert the
volume to a basic disk. It would be nice if the documentation was clear
about when dialogs and/or procedures are different between XP and 2000.
