After enabling Remote Assistance, I'm trying to send an
invitation to another XP machine with Remote Assistance
enabled. I'm receiving an error: Microsoft Internet
Explorer: A program could not start. Please try again. How
do I get past this error?

This is driving me insane too. I can't find anything in
the MS knowledgebase. Has anyone else come across this
problem or found a solution?

Hi Bob. I've been looking ino this for a few hours
without any luck so far. I have tried the patch
mentioned in Q311889, but I received an error message
indicating I already has a higher level patch in place.
I tried Q305608. I already had enabled RA in the control
panel, but added the RA registry key without any
improvement. In Q301527 I made the Group Policy edits
but things still aren't working for me. I'm trying to
enable this for the Help Desk at the Seattle Symphony.
Any help would be appreciated. If I find the answer I
will post a reply. -Matt

I found the error in Event Viewer under System. The
Remote Desktop Help Session Manager did not start
properly. Remote Assistance is disabled. You need to
restart in Safe Mode, and at the command prompt run the
following command: sessmgr.exe -service
Reboot..
