I have been trying to connect via remote assistance with my daughter. Each
time I try I get an error message indicating that it is unable to connect to
server with is bellsouth.com
Any ideas anyone?
I admit that I am stills kind of new at this and need all the help I can get.

Hi Charles,

If either or both of you are operating behind a firewall then that is more
than likely your problem. If using Zone Alarm, reduce your Internet Zone
firewall setting to Medium and you should be OK. The other choice would to
to allow access in your firewall to port 3389. In the free version of ZA,
you do not have the facility to change port access, so it would be easier to
reduce the IZ settings. Remember to reset the settings to the higher level
when your RA session is complete.

Hello Bob,
I appreciate your advice. Let me give more detail about what we have already
tried. Maybe we are overlooking something simple. We have tried with the
Windows Firewall turned off, we have tried using Windows IM, {we are both on
version 8.1) When she invites me for RA I receive the request and I accept.
I then get a message box indicating that RA is loading. After a few seconds I
get a RA Dialog Page which says that RA has failed. When I invite her for RA
she receives the request and accepts. She then gets a message box that says,
"RA connection could not be extablished because remote host name could not be
resolved. Try again" Each time she tries again she gets the same. When I try
to RA using Outlook Express I get an error message. It is kind of long so I
will try to be as precise as possible. "The connecltion to the server has
failed. Account bellsouth.net, Server bellsouth.net. Protocol SMTP, Port 25,
Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number 0x800CCC0E" My ISP is
bellsouth.net. I am also signed up with MSN. She is also on MSN. We are both
using Windows XP. We have read every Help and Support article and every
Widows XP newsgroup question and answer and cannot find anything that exactly
matches our problem. Obviously I am a novice at this. She is been into it
about one year. I hope this additional information give you more to work
with. I really appreciate any help or adivce you can offer.

Charles
