remote assistance between vista and windows 7

hi,
i have a friend who is having a few problems with their new laptop running
windows 7 ,(i am running vista home premium)it would appear to be a simple
internet options issue which i have said i would do for her via remote
assistance as she doesn't know anything about computers ,the problem whenever
i try to enter the password it gets rejected as the wrong password ,having
googled this issue it would appear to be a known bug but can't find any
solutions does anyone know of a solution

we are using Messenger to connect as that is all she is familiar with

is it possible to remote assist between vista and windows 7 as i am aware
that it is not xp to vista

Incorrect. You can assist (AFAIK) between them all.

However - given your explanation - I sugggest you download and install (or
get the portable version) of TeamViewer and have them download and run the
"QuickSupport" version of TeamViewer and give you the 9 digit number ID and
4 digit number password (and leave it up) and you connect to their machine.
 
thanks for the reply ,i have actually just downloaded teamviewer 5 so will
probably use that
