The Windows XP Remote Assistance worked until I installed the "expert
computer" using a Belkin wireless router and added a Belkin Gateway
router to the "novice" computer. The two computers I am trying to
connect both run XP however the other computer on both networks use Win
98.

When I try to respond to the e-mailed request using Outlook I receive a
message that the host name can not be resolved.

Port 3389 has been enabled on both XP computers and firewalls have been
disabled.

Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi -

Has the port forwarding feature on the routers been
configured to forward traffic on port 3389 to the target
PC?

Chances are the PCs have IP addresses on a nonroutable
network like 192.168.x.x - in that case you configure the
router to forward traffic on port 3389 to the PC's IP
address and when using Remote Assistance you connect to
the *router's* IP address, not the PC's.

I am not sure but I think that is what occurs in the remote assistance
feature. The message is an XML statement.

I will give it a try.

Thanks.
