I want to turn off the remote admin. privelge on 2000
professional. I have a single, stand-alone machine set up
for home/office. I'll never need to administrate it
remotely and I certainly don't want anyone else to. Can I
disable this sharing feature?

already done. didn't help against blaster though. So,
why should the sharing be hard-coded? Are you saying I'm
stuck with a(nother) hard-coded security breach in my OS?
You said first, that implies a second.

Yes, you can disable file sharing.

Hi Mike. Uninstall file and print sharing, disable the remote registry service, and
in Local Security Policy add the administratrators group to deny access from network
user rights assignments setting. Make sure you do not deny administrators for local
logon though. --- Steve
