Hi, I am getting increasingly frustrated trying to access
my work from my home computer. I run Windows XP Home
Edition at home and have no problem using the internet at
home, however when I attempt to logon remotely to work it
will not accept my user name and password (which is
exactly the same as I use at work). The IT guys here at
work have told me it's because I am running XP Home
Edition and that when they made this model Microsoft left
out an 'authenticating' tool. I am really confused. Can
anyone shed any light on this for me???

Many Thanks

The guys at work aren't being helpful.

In the username slot, try putting in domain/username
followed by the domain password in the password slot.

I have the same problem with a laptop that I have been
working with there is no way to join it to a domain I
have tried everything concievable includeing an
application that says it makes able to join a domain.

If you are attempting Remote Desktop, They I.T. Guys are correct. XP
Home can't be a host for RD. It can only be the client.

You're options are to 1, Get XP Pro. 2, Use Netmeeting. 3, Get VNC.

Well from what i know you can login to a domain via VPN
with XP home. this is a work around for not being able to
login in to a domain. I have clients that access there
computer from home and they have xp home. email me if you
need more help.

You lose the manageability aspects when using Home (or a non-domain
computer) like Group Policy, Software Installation, etc...
