The wireless network I am trying to access has a password that is only
letters (the Comcast all in one program allows users to select their own
password) however, when I try to connect via Intel ProSet Wireless, the
device ownership passwordd allows only numerical entries. What can I do to
get connected?

You are probably not doing the set up correctly. You seem to be
setting up a wireless network "passphrase:" but your Intel ProSet is
asking for a Wireless Protected Setup PIN number.
 
Another possibility is that Intel ProSet Wireless requires the
password to be stored as Hexadecimal numbers. Google for Hex
converter, if you need to convert your password from ASCii into
Hex format.

Except that he says it only lets him put in numerical entries, and
hexadecimal would require letters.

Intel ProSet Wireless is NOT that restricted.

That probably means that you've selected different encryption arrangements
in the router and the wireless card. They have to match. Try some of the
other schemes in the ProSet utility.

Not all network cards support all encryption arrangements. You have to
take the lowest common denominator.
