I have been attempting to connect from my home to office
computer through a link sys router (BEFW1154) without
success. I have enabled each passthrough and am not sure
if you can do this using WinXP. Any assisstance greatly
appreciated.

You have to enable DMZ on your linksys pointing it to the particular PC you
wish to connect to. This PC should have a static IP or you could use the
'SHOW DHCP' of the linksys to find out what IP is this PC on at the time of
connection but then you also need to have the linksys set up to allow remote
administration to be able to check this. Also the linksys needs to use
static IP it's self or if it is dynamic, then you need to be able to tell
what it is at the time of connection and this can be accomplished number of
ways.
Finally, when you ready to connect to this PC, you address it using the
linksys IP, not by the local IP of the PC. This does not mean that you will
be able to connect until few other things are set on the remote such as
permission to allow remote desktop, you must also have user account with a
password.
