Hey, we have Win2k system at my office. And on occasion I
need to VPN from home. Is there anyway I can install like
a tool pack that will allow me access to the domains Users
and Computers screen. Just in case I need to unlock an
account or reset a password without having to go back to
work?

Thanks.

Use remote desktop (port 3389)... This is built into XP and can connect to
other XP machines, 2000/2003 Server... Just enable remote desktop on the
servers and allow access to the appropriate users... then you can execute
any of the management applications (MMC Plugins), including AD Users &
Computers...

If you logon to your VPN connection with the same user logon/password as a domain
administrator [even a local account] , you should be able to use Adminpak on your
computer to do such . Adminpak is located on the install cdrom in the /I386 folder.
Otherwise if you configure your domain controller to run in Terminal Services Remote
Administration mode, you can logonto it like you are there. You would have to
install the W2K Terminal Server client on your home machine. Since you have a VPN,
you can use Terminal Service through the VPN by entering the local lan IP address of
your AD domain controller in the TS client which will allow you to avoid opening a
hole in your firewall, and be sure to use complex passwords for the administrator
account. See the links below for details. --- Steve
