I have been trying to remotely access my XP Pro system at
home from my XP Pro here at work. I have been trying PC
Anywhere b/c it is easy to configure which ports it will
use. The problem pertains to the routing of information
from work out to the internet. From what i can gather,
the information is only routed to sites which are
contained within our VPN which are addresses with the
first octet of the IP starting at either 56 or 10.

From the LAN at work, I am not able to ping my router
while connected to the VPN or even disconnected. Others
outside of this LAN are able to ping the router and
remotely access it fine.

I am able to pull up webpages and even the routers webpage
on port 8080. I have tried configuring PC Anywhere to use
this port, unsuccessfully.

If anyone can think of anyway for me to remotely access my
system at home through a very restricted network, I would
appreciate it.

It sounds like your office is using a firewall that is blocking
access...

There are third party services (http tunnel) that may provide
assistance with this type of network, but beware of any ramifications
of its use at your office (violations of AUP, etc).
