After removing some programs, I had problems with Windows
XP Professional, so I reinstalled it as an upgrade. I
got more problems, so I backed up everything, and re-
installed it as a new installation. One problem
remained. When I try to create a network connection, I
get the message 711, "Cannot load remote access service
connection manager." I read about this on the knowledge
base, tried the solution, and it didn't work. When I try
to start the service as recommended in the solution, it
gives me Error 5, Access Denied. I am the only user on
the computer and have admnistrator authorization, so I
don't understand this. Another knowledge base article
recommends using the registry editor to eliminate 2
folders, 25 and 26 in
HHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasM
an\PPP, but it also give warnings that if you do this you
can seriously screw up your machine. Does anybody know
what I should do? Also, how did this happen in the first
place? I had used the same machine with the same
hardware and Windows XP Pro for over a year without
problems, and then removing a few applications apparently
caused all this trouble. Thanks...
