It is clear how to share a printer connected locally to a
client computer during a remote desktop connection, and
be able to have programs on thehost computer print to the
clients printer. Is it also possible to print to the
clients network printer? (a network printer attached to
the clients home network)

There are a couple of things that you need to know here.

You need to have the latest client, version 5.1 or above (download if from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdclientdl.asp). The driver
installed on the client machine for this network printer needs to be present
on the server also (this driver should be an in-box driver) for this to be
redirected.
