reminders in 2007 Outlook calendar

I was trying to put a sound/reminder on certain birthdays in Outlook
but I am getting a window that says "Will not appear because item is
in a folder that doesn't support reminders" -

So which folder should it be in so that a week previously it will
remind me of the forthcoming birthday ?

it needs to be in your default calendar folder - this is the calendar folder
outlook created in your "default delivery location".
