We have a user on Outlook 98 who sets up reminders, correct date and time,
with a reminder set to 1 hour or some other length of time, plus he checks
the reminder check box, but the reminder never pops up.

I thought he was doing something wrong so did one myself on his PC, but it
never showed.

I use this feature all the time on my PC.

What can I check to see what is wrong here? Is there a setting somewhere
which may have been set wrong? This is the second user on this Win98SE
machine.

Thanks,
Mich

Try starting Outlook 1 time with the /cleanreminders command line switch.
(Note: Reminders only popup from the default folders. If the user is
setting a reminder in a non-default folder, then the reminder will never
show.)

The user is using the default calendar. I tried using the /cleanreminders
but nothing changed. Still no reminder popping up...

Any other suggestions please?

Due to the Swen virus, all e-mails sent to this account will be deleted
w/out reading.

How can you check to see if the user is setting a reminder in a non-default
folder?

He selects calendar from his Folder list, where there is listed:
Archive
Calendar
Contacts
Deleted Itmes
Inbox
Sent Items

He has no personal folders.

Without using a 3rd party addin reminders will only fire from the
default Inbox, Calendar, Tasks or Contacts folders.

So now I am back to the original question:

What would stop all reminders from popping up, when everything seems to be
set up properly?

Thanks,
Mich

Try starting Outlook using the /cleanreminders switch. If that doesn't
work try starting Outlook using the /resetfolders switch.

Sometimes the Reminders folder gets corrupted and those switches can
help restore things.
