Reminder setting ignored for Contacts

I have deselected the "Default reminder" option in the Options pane o
the Tools menu, which did what I expected for new appointments
However, for birthday or anniversary dates created as a part of
Contact record, the reminder for this recurring event is still set. Ho
can I change this
 
Hi, I have exactly the same problem.

Default reminder is unchecked.

However, every time I add a birthday to a contact, I get a new recurring event (good) but also a reminder (extremely annoying and impossible to turn off).

Any tips out there?
