Reminder for a recurring event

I have an event (Passover) that reccurs over 8 days in a row.
When I try to set the reminder, I get the message saying the "reminder can't
be set to occur before the previous occurence". Is it possible to set a
reminder only for the first occurence of a recurring event? Or is it better
to make 8 seperate entries?

You can create it as a single event over the 8 days.
Would that not solve your problem?
 
you can only set a reminder on the first day if you make it an 8 days long
event, not an event that recurs every day for 8 days. In this case, I'd
probably make 2 events - day 1 with a reminder and 1 event that recurs 7
days in a row.
