Remembering Data

Before a recient crash and backup of my PC my system remembered regular data I entered (name, address, etc). I only had to type 2-3 letters and it would offer the data for me.
Was this an XP Por feature, if so how can I get it back?
 
Hi Wren,

To enable AutoComplete, in Internet Explorer, click on tools>Internet
options and flip to the contents tab. Click on Autocomplete and check all
the boxes and click on OK.
