Remember desktop icons position when Windows starts up or on user intervention

I am using WinTidy 2.0.0.0 which appeared in PC Magazine US Edition, Nov
13, 2001 and it is okay.
Just that if there are extra icons on the desktop it keeps telling a
reminder that new icons are on the desktop that haven't had their
position remembered.
Is there an alternative that works nicely with XP that anyone can
recommend?

I've found most suc programs unreliable on XP. Iconoid seems to work
OK.
