I Have been trying the newsgroups with no luck - this time
maybee?

In near furture we need to relocate our terminal server
and database installation to a new manufacturing facility.
To reduce server downtime I would ask for advice and help
to create a step by step "best practice" scenario for
relocation? How would it look like? The relocation
includes moving to a new NT4 domain with an existing PDC
and I would like to prepare as much as possible.

Old terminal server setup data:
MS Windows NT 4 SP6 domain controller (domain =KRS,
user+home+profiles)
MS Windows 2000 Adv. SP3 member server (terminal
server+printer+license server= 10 + 5 CAL)

New terminal server setup data:
MS Windows NT 4 SP6 domain controller (domain =SLG,
user+home+profiles)
MS Windows 2000 Adv. SP3 member server (terminal
server+printer+license server = 10 + 5 CAL)

My own brainstorm ideas:

Old location tasks
- Copy profiles, home folders + take screen shots of user
setup
- Uninstall license server.
- Remove Term. srv. from domain

New location tasks
- Create users in new NT4 domain, create homefolders etc.
- Term srv. to new domain
- Install license server, call MS Clearing House for id.
Can I use the old one?
- Activate CAL license, call MS Clearing House. Can I get
1 x 15 CAL's? Or should I ask for 1x5 & 1x10 CAL's?
- Install SP4 on the terminal server?

On the workstations - using terminal services client
- Delete registry key? (kb 187614)
- Does MS support RDP 5.1 on the Term. srv. win2000

I have answers to a few, but not all your questions inline below

Sorry but I don't have a best practices document. Have you tried
looking at some of the other community sites listed at

You can use the same CALs. From the TS FAQ at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/community/centers/terminal/terminal_faq.mspx

Q. How do I move my licenses from one licensing server to another?

A. You should back up your Terminal Services licensing server
regularly by using the Windows Backup tool or similar. This will help
protect your licensing data from accidental loss if your system
experiences hardware or storage failure.

When backing up a Terminal Server License Server, back up both the
System State data and the folder in which the Terminal Server License
Server is installed. This ensures that data in both the registry and
the Terminal Services licensing server database is backed up.

If you restore the System State data and the database to the original
Terminal Services licensing server computer, any unissued licenses are
restored correctly as long as you have not replaced the operating
system on the computer. Otherwise any unissued licenses are not
restored and an event will appear in the system log providing the
unissued count. You can still restore the unissued licenses by using
the TS License Manager tool with the Telephone activation mechanism,
and requesting the licenses back. You can switch to the Telephone
mechanism by right clicking on the server in TS License Manager, and
selecting properties from the menu.
- Activate CAL license, call MS Clearing House. Can I get
