By release date do you mean RTM or when Vista is released to retail?

I'm not sure what "RTM" means. I was specifically asking about retail
release. Thanks.

we dont know there been mix rumors just say 2007 RTM means release to people
who supply us with videos cards and harddrives and etc like gateway and dell
means they need to have there hardware up to date and able to use the vista
windows drivers.Nvidia and ATI it means they get the disk and got to get
there drivers ready by the time it goes gold before it hits the shelves when
it sells.

RTM means release to manufacturing...

Anywho, Vista is scheduled for release to consumers January 2007... Corps in
November 2006...

Although none of this is "final", Vista is expected to "go Gold"
sometime in the first half of November. ("Go Gold" = the code is done
and RTM (released to manufacturing .... turned over to the DVD
manufacturing firms). Some corporate customers will be able to get the
official relase via download (more or less like we got the release
candidates, but it won't be open to the public). Retail product in
stores on the shelves won't be until January. And all of those dates
will move if MS does not decide the the product is "finished" in the
first half of November.

Also, this is for US English release only. International versions are
likely to be somewhat later.

Thanks to all for this information.

RTM means "Release to Manufacturing" -- it has nothing to do with
getting it out to driver makers, etc. It only has ever meant that the
GOLD copy is sent to the CD/DVD duplication houses who press the discs
and combine them with whatever printed material goes into the box. Period.

It's not a "rumor" item.

With a video game, this only take a few days to a couple of weeks. With
something as large are Windows Vista, it can take months to get it all
ready.
