adress in colum 2 must automatically appear when I type the number allocated to that address in column 1. What formula can I use to achive this?

sounds like a VLOOKUP to me

check out help on it and get back to us if you need more assistance (with
details like where the reference number & address are stored & wher you want
them to appear etc).
