Greetings,
The computer I bought came with Windows XP home edition
pre-installed on the computer. The manufacturer provided
me with a system restore disk along with several
diagnostic utilities. The did NOT however provide me with
a copy of the Windows XP disk. The way the "restore"
system works is there is (or I should say was) a back up
partition on my hard drive which contained copies of all
the pre-installed software inclucding the operating
system. I was performing a backup of my system when the
backup program provided re-partitioned my hard drive and
completely erradicated the old back-up. Therefore I have
no way of reinstalling the opperating system should
something tragic happen. I've checked the Microsoft web
site and I've spent 30 minutes on the phone with the
manaugacturer (without ever talking to a human I might
add) and no one can tell me if I'm going to have to pay
300 bucks for another copy of Windows XP or if I can
obtain a replacement to my registered copy of the
program. Or even if I can buy a reduced price copy of the
program since I"ve already paid for it once. Any help
would be GREATLY apperciated. Please email replys as I am
unable to check this forum very often.
Thanks in advance
Eric.
