My 2002 gateway desktop had a hard drive failure. I purchased and inserted a
new hard drive. I used the gateway operating disks and now am asked for the
Windows XP disk. I can not find it anywhere. I do have product number and
certificate of authority number from the label on the desktop tower, but no
disk to put in the cd drive. I am unable to go forward and frustrated about
not being able to locate a disk to finish the installation of the new hard
drive. Please help.

Please describe *in detail* these "gateway operating disks" as well as
the specific method you are attempting to reinstall Windows XP. For
instance, is there a key you hit on the keyboard at bootup. Is the
method Gateway provided dependent upon the old hard disk being
installed? What model and model number Gateway do you have? Can you post
links to instructions you have been trying to follow? What are the exact
messages you see *verbatim*?
