I bought a Compaq and Xp was already installed, the motherboard blew on that
Compaq, so I tried reinstalling the XP on a different computer, it asked for
PRODUCT KEY # and I entered correctly. But the system is telling me the KEY #
is wrong. Can I not reinstall XP on a different computer? If I can why am I
getting the error message???

No, you can't. Based on your description, you had an OEM license for
WinXP on your Comppaq. An OEM version must be sold with a
non-peripheral piece of hardware (normally a motherboard or hard rive,
if not an entire PC) and is _permanently_ bound to the first PC on which
it's installed. An OEM license, once installed, is not legitimately
transferable to another computer under _any_ circumstances.

No, it means that the OP should get the computer fixed.. one has to purchase
a second license to run a second XP installation..
