I have an 80 Gig hd, with XP preinstaled on it. I have recently been having major trouble due to adware/spyware. I decided to reinstall the OS and start from scratch, but the reinstall was put on D: partition. So now I am asked which version of XP to open when I power on the computer. I was told that using the F10 at boot up would give me the reformat/reinstall option. But nothing happens when I do this, I keep getting the screen asking me to choose which version to use.
What I want to do is reinstall over the original. There is/was a program that let me make 6 boot disks, but nothing happens with them. When I "explore" the cd contents I get padlock icons in lock position. Please someone help me with this problem!? It's been driving me absolutely nuts!!!
I have a Compaq S3100NX
