What happens to the Outlook Express and Outlook Express Inbox when you
reinstall Windows XP without saving any of the messages. My computer didn't
load up properly, it was pausing at the Windows Screen. So I had to
reinstall Windows XP.

Thanks

Your inbox should still be on your hard drive if you did a reinstall. but if
you format and reinstall, your inbox maybe gone.

Thanks

What kind of search can I make to find it? I didn't format my hard drive. I
still have all my documents and so on..But for some strange reason I cannot
find my Inbox prior to the reinstalling.

Thanks again!

Search for "Inbox.dbx", or "*.dbx"
The old "Inbox.dbx" may have been renamed to something like "Inbox(2).dbx"
Anyway if you can find the required dbx file then note it's location or copy
to elsewhere, then use the 'Import' command from the 'File' menu.

Data recovery software like http://www.r-tt.com/
and many others may be able to find it if it has not been
over written. Some of the free software sites may have
something, but I liked r-tt. As I recall they (or someone)
had a free download that would tell you if it could find
the file and what condition it was in for free. Then they
charged you (perhaps $30.00) to recover it.
I lost about 8 weeks data when my hard drive physically
died. Now I do nitely backups with XCOPY. Loosing your
stuff is a drag. Best of luck,
Dave
