reinstalling windows XP

I uninstalled windows XP Home Ed, and then tried to
reinstall it. It opens to the first screen and I chose
the"Install windows XP" option. Nothinh happens after
that. I left it on all night but nothing happened. Any
suggestions?

Your description leaves a lot to be desired..

BACKUP YOUR FILES! (Documents, Spreadsheets, Email, Contacts, Pictures,
etc...)

Are you saying you get through the "Press Any Key to Boot from CD.." point,
you delete any and all partitions, you create a new partition, you continue
through the various options and it starts installing Windows XP - what point
does it stop at?

OR..

Did you upgrade from Windows 9x/ME and you then later went into Add/Remove
programs and removed Windows XP and now are trying to put it back? And if
that - where exactly is it locking again?
