What is the process of reinstalling XP Professional over
the currently installed OS (XP Pro), in order to resolve
many file/driver conflicts that were created over time?
Does the computer need to me formatted first, or simply
run the setup program? Any tips on this topic will be very
helpfull.

Thank you.

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install

I tinker constantly and usually wind up with a broken
system. Try the system file checker first if you can get
to the command prompt. The syntax is: sfc /scannow. Make
sure your cd is in the drive. If that doesn't do it then
try a repair as suggested above. I find that doing a
reinstall loads up the registry with double entries and
results is slower performance. It will work in a pinch
however.
