I have a major problem. I just finished building my computer. AMD 64 3800+,
Asus AN832-Sli motherboard. It says its compatible with WIndows XP, however
when I put in the windows installation cd, it says press any key to boot, ( I
do) then it says - Setup will now inspect your system...... After these
letters dissapear, the blue screen doesnt pop up. The weird thing is that
when I use my windows 2000 professioinal cd, it goes to the blue screen and
installs completely. What is going on? Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Could be all sorts of things..
Bad CD, perhaps you have external devices hooked up that Windows XP tries to
identify and cannot, perhaps you have bad memory and Windows XP cannot deal
with it or perhaps your Windows XP CD needs to be updated (slipstreamed)
with SP2?

my pc has a firewire card and a video card.
I just want to know are you saying that windows 2000 can identify them but
windows XP cannot?
Thank you anyway. Im going to try disconnecting some stuff to see if it´ll
work.

That is a possibility - yes.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP native drivers are not identical.

Also - there is enough difference that Windows XP might have trouble
installing on bad hardware where Windows 2000 might not notice the
inconsistencies in the hardware.

I'd remove everything but essentials and try your installation.

I would also check the Windows XP CD for scratches and perhaps try a
different CD drive as well.
Maybe even swap RAM around on your motherboard.

Is this an OEM CD that came with another computer? If so, it may be bios
locked to that computer. Stanley has also given some suggestions.
