Reinstalling Windows - SID problem?

We have a Windows 2000 member server on our domain, 'Server9'. Its only job
is to act as a Terminal Server and RDP server for employees off site client
connections.

Well there is a major problem with the O/S and it needs a clean wipe, and
re-install. During install of W2k Server, I'd like to just give it the same
name of 'Server9.' Will this be a problem on the domain. I'm thinking this
might be a problem with the SID's?
Because 'Server9' will have two distinct SID's in active directory-its
original SID, and the new one after O/S re-install.

Is this a problem? Can I work around it?

Thanks

No it won't be a problem. A new SID will be created when you rejoin the
domain.

But what about the old SID with the same server name? Or does AD remove
all of the old SID references in the domain? Wondering if there will be any
DNS problems?

Also, the NIC card in the server, will have the same exact static IP before
and after the re-install.

When you join a computer to a Windows 2000 domain, an SID is created for
that computer account. Some internal processes in the operating system refer
to an account's SID but it's nothing you should need to be concerned about
since you're doing a clean install.
