reinstalling internet explorer 6.0

I am having problems with starting internet explorer. All
was fine and suddenly it would not load from shortcut or
program. Internet connection is fine as other brower
works.
I uninstalled IE and have tried to reinstall from
Microsoft download. Download will not complete.
Signature Message state that it is not compatable with
windows XP.
Any suggestions?

I have found the only way to reinstall internet explorer is to go into registry. Start >> Run >> type regedit >>ok >> then look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11CF-8B85-OOAAOO5B4383} left click this and you will see a set of components asscociated with this identity. Right click IsInstalled (Reg_DWord) value then click "modify". Changed the value from "1" to "0" click ok then exit registry. This should allow you to reinstall internet explorer 6. Remember back up your registry files first in case something should go wrong.
