In the MOC there is a statement that seems rather vague (no surprise) and I
would like to know what the heck MS is trying to say here. In 2154 it says
that when dcpromo is run and sees the computer name you are trying to use for
your new DC, already in use...it removes the object (in Sites and Services)
and assumes a reinstall. BUT, anytime I have re-run dcpromo, I have always
have the wizard REMOVE the DC. When a new DC is being promoted isn't the
Domain Naming Master (and therefore the Global Catalog) consulted to see if
the name is unique and if it ISN'T, doesn't it yell at you and tell you that
you have to use a different name for the new DC? Otherwise, what is the
point of having a Domain Naming Master, if you can just remove a domain name
(from Sites and Services) THAT MAY NOT BE YOURS?
Thanks,
John
