Shel

I recently reinstalled XP, and now I get the report "no
sound device installed" when trying to play cds, use
media player etc. System Information says the same, "no
sound card", "null" etc. I am not techy, but I do not
see a separate soundcard inside the case and the speaker
jack appears to plug in to a socket off the motherboard -
I assume there's an inbuilt audio capacity there - so I
can't remove and reinstall a soundcard. All was well
before the XP reinstall, any thoughts and suggestions
would be greatly welcomed ... Thanks, Shel.

hi shel
i have exactly the same problem. did you get any
suggestions on what to do? its REALLY annoying isn't it?
there actually is an inbuilt soundcard, if you go to Start
Control Panel > Add Or Remove Programs, there should be
something there. In my case its a Yamaha Audio Drive, but
a message tells me if i reinstall it it might compromise
WIndows. which is silly cos it worked ok for 2 years b4 i
reinstalled windows XP.
thanks
mario

I'm in the same boat. I read that the sound device may
be turned off in the BIOS but I have no idea how to turn
it on and windows help doesn't help! It says all
computers are different and to refer to original
documentation??!!

Anybody??
