Reinstalled Windows XP and now spare hard drive not recognized

I recently re-installed windows and an additional hard drive that I have
installed is no longer recognized.

I have my main HD as drive c:, a cd burner as drive e; a dvd drive as drive
f: and a Maxtor 160Gig drive as what WAS drive g.

Now drive g is inaccessible. Any ideas of how I can get Windows XP to
recognize this drive? It worked fine before I reinstalled windows.

Reason for reinstalling windows: IE was not acting correctly (not allowing
pop-ups on some sites, i.e. www.kfog.com radio player) and I thought
reinstalling XP would repair.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Have you already checked the disk management MMC to see
if your drive is listed? Does it need to be formatted,
etc?

The drive does not appear when I go to Control Panel where it used to be
listed with all the other drives. The drive was installed and
functioning/formatted prior to my reinstallation of windows.

It seems that after the reinstall, Windows is not seeing this drive.

When you say "the drive is inaccessible" what exactly do you mean? Is
it there in Disk Manager? If not, it is probably a hardware problem. I
know, I know, it just started happening when you reinstalled, but
computers are like that sometimes.

If it _does_ show up in Disk Manager, you might just have to assign a
drive letter.
