have just reinstalled windows millennium on to an old laptop. the used
screen size now is only about a third of the available screen size. i have
gone to display in control panel, but the moving slider to increase the
screen size is grey out and wont operate and stuck on the smallest number of
pixels option.

any advice please?

Did you install all the latest appropriate drivers?

Be sure that you have a 'fresh' copy of the correct video drivers (maybe
supplied on a supplementary CD) specific to your Laptop model, or download
the 'latest' WinMe drivers from your Laptop manufacturers web site.

Install as follows :-

Boot into Safe Mode and in Device Manager, 'Remove' any/all Display Adapters
and Monitors and then re-boot. WinMe *should* re-detect (Plug and Play)
your video card and monitor, and should install the 'correct' original
drivers.

This should allow you to readjust your display to your required settings.

Good luck

having dealt with a lot of old equipment, sometimes the display just won't
support what it says it will, so try a lower res too. 800x600 usually works
best onmost monitors.
