My computer was built by a friend of a friend with Windows
XP installed about 9 months ago. Even though I am
protected by the latest version of Norton Systemworks I
got a virus that deleted nearly all of my program .exe and
uninstall .exe files. I have tried to reinstall windows
from my cd but can't locate my Certificate of Authenticity
label on the computer and have not been able to contact
the computer builder. It does appear that he removed it
from my manual to place it on the computer I just can't
find it. Is there someone at Microsoft taht can assist me?
I did find a way to get my Product Identification (PID)
from the computer at the Microsoft site but it will not
work when I type it in at the reinstall. I would
appreciate any advice on how to proceed.

Normal place to put the product key label is on the side of the
computer case.

Some builders put it on the bottom, especially with noteook computers.

Good luck
