George said:My IBM T30 would boot to the splash screen and the progress bar would get
to right above the M in Microsoft, then blue screen of death.
I could not get by this.
I ended up reinstalling Win2k, then getting 4 service packs followed by
IE
6.0, Adobe reader, display & audio drivers from IBM, reinstalling the
wireless adapter, Norton Antivirus, etc, etc, & etc.
What a job.
Now I am motivated to make a recovery CD with GHOST. I have the current
version but never got around to reading the book.
Question: Can Ghost make a bootable recovery CD like the one that came
with my tower which will produce a system just like it came out of the
box? I would like to make one with the current configuration which would
allow me to skip all the downloads and pick up where it is now.
If so, any help would be appreciated.
TIA
My experience of Ghost is that you get a complete mirror of what the current
config is at the point of Ghost creation, and a boot floppy to boot into to
replicate the drive.
What I do is create a Ghost image of my laptop on my desktop PC, I use a
cheap adaptor I got from ebay to connect the laptops hard drive to the PC's
IDE connectors. Then if the laptops drive ever fails I can connect another
to the PC and after 30 mins or so plug the new drive into the laptop and be
nack up and running.
I also have a script that runs that copies my email/My Documents and
Favourites to a usb memory key/hdd. This is scheduled to run 3 times a day
via task scheduler. If the usb device isnt connected it does'nt do anything,
obviously, but when I plug the device it it makes a regular data back up.
