Hi

I hope this is not a big problem. I have to reinstall XP for DELL.

Story

I purchsed a used Dell (no software included) then I purchased an XP program for Dell and loaded it a WHILE BACK. Everything is working okay after the load.

Then about a week ago I begin to have problems with my MS optical mouse (MS Intilimouse Exployer 3) shutting off after a couple of minutes (actually about 1min.). I have to reboot to have it woork but not for long

Anyway, I look for my XP CD and I find it (parts and software lost or missing because of remodel of house) and I find the DP/N number the REV: number the DS/N number but not the little book with the product key sticker number

I can't reinstall without it. Is there a way to find it on the CD or did I purchase another XP program

Any suggestion will be gratefully appreicated. Thank you
Michael-too

If you purchased it at retail, call Microsoft Replacement Parts:

(800) 360-7561

If you purchased it from Dell, you'll need to contact them.

To clarify my response, if you purchased an OEM version from Dell, you'll
need to contact them.

Ouch, how about setting your line length to something reasonable like
70-78?

Anyhow you can easily find out what key you used to install XP the last
time if you can still boot your computer. I've got one of the many key
viewers here: http://home.comcast.net/~macecil/howto/hackxp/viewkeyxp.exe

I doubt that reinstalling XP would fix a problem with your mouse however.
Sounds like either a bad wire (the early MS Optical mice were known for
those) or just a loose connection.

He can't change his line length, he's posting through the web interface.
Unfortunately, users posting through the web interface have no control over
that aspect.
