Reinstall xp to the same computer

I am thinking of reinstall xp. The version I have is
update. How do I convince it to install to a newly
formatted disk? Won't it think that it is a new install
and not an upgrade?
 
It will install with no problems.
At some point you will be asked to insert qualifying media.
Then insert your previous operating system CD for a few minutes.
