My hard drive crashed, I added new one, reinstalled xp and activated.
Understand MS does not like to have xp reinstalled.
You understand incorrectly. Microsoft could care less how many times you
install Windows XP on any one machine. Your re-installing XP over and over
on a single machine is fine. You want to do it once every 75 minutes, go
for it. But if you are going to activate it (I wouldn't do it if I was
going to reinstall every 30 days or less or something..) and continue using
it, you must be willing to go through the necessary process of activating
it - either by Internet or phone.
I have product key, but oem so MS will not help me and I do not
know who the oem was..How do I make my xp copy legimate.
What do you mean by "legitimate"? Do you not have the 25 character key to
install it with? If that is the case and you truly do not know who you
bought the copy of Windows XP from (interesting..) - then you will have to
(to be legal) purchase a new copy of Windows XP. If you mean "activation"
after you installed it with the 25 character key, then.. just do it.
