Hi
I have XP on C: vista on D.
I had to reformat the C drive and reinstalled the XP.
Now I do not get dual boot option as expected and would like to run Vista.

How can I rebuild/create a dual bootloader to include Vista.

I have Vista Beta CD.
I have already tried to run vista setup, it asked for KEY, i entered the key
and thought I might get an option to repair the boot but nothing instead it
asked me to choose Drive to install vista.

Any ideas??
The previously installed Vista files are still on D drive.

Thanks

Hi Tim,

Boot the Vista disk, but when you get to the screen where you choose to
install Vista, you should see a repair option at the bottom. Choose this and
then select the startup repair.

Thanks Roger

I have Vista ISO and I use Daemon tool to access it.

I ran the Vista setup from XP. the installation screen cameup but there is
not Repair boot option.
Only Install Now and Transfer Files etc.

I clicked on install now. It asked for updates otions and on the next next
asked for Product Key, and then on the next on ask me to select partition to
install Vista.
I mean it did not even detect the already installed Vista partition.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Were you able to use Vista before you reformatted and installed XP? If
Vista is invisible for install, and both types of repair (startup and Vista
itself) it sounds like some key files are missing.

Yes it was working OK then.

Is there anyway I can run Vista direct from partition D:/ even it is not on
the bootloader?

Thanks

Can you provide the following info on your system from XP disk management
by disk - for each partition (what is on it, the information in ( ) at the
bottom of each partition
Showing hidden and system files, do you have a Boot folder on the root of
any partition.

It is still worrisome that Vista is not recognized by the Vista install
disk.

Tim, can you burn the iso to DVD? As far as I am aware, the repair options
are only availalbe if you actually boot with the Vista DVD in the drive.
Launching from the XP desktop will not give you the repair option that you
need.

Hi,

You can't run from the .iso for repairs, you need to boot the DVD created
from it.
