I had to reinstall WinXP. Now it will not recognize my monitor (Viewsonic
GT770) with the endresult that I have continual screen flicker. Have not
idea how to refind the monitor. Have checked system files. Have done a
search. Have gone through Control Panel Search - Display and all that jazz.
Nothing. The system worked fine as per monitor, card etc prior to the
reinstall.
Does anyone know how to 'beat this problem?'
Thanks

Have you tried to change your resolution display settings down and see if
that helps. Also try reinstalling your video driver.

Good luck

To check the settings on your monitor right click with the mouse pointing to
the background on the screen and choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
Select the "Settings" tab and look for the "Advanced" button. If you don't
have the button it means that your have not installed the manufacturers
driver for the video card or have replaced them with the default driver for
VGA. Check the information which came with the video card and follow the
directions for installing the drivers and utilities provided by the
manufacturer. If you do have the button select it and look for the tab
labeled "Monitor". There should be a window for "refresh rate" click on it
and set it to the highest frequency available. You may have to restart the
computer before the setting is effective. There are selections for
completing this without restarting. Check all the options available.

Some monitor manufacturers provide extra .inf files which can be applied
through the change driver selection for the monitor.

Good luck.
