I am trying to do a clean reinstall of Windows XP and BIOS recognizes the CD
and I boot from the CD and then it goes to "Checking Hardware", I'm don't
remember the exact message and hangs there. I've waited 10 minutes and there
is not activity either from the CD or the HDD's. It is XP Pro SP2 and my
hardware is 2 500GB WD HDD's, GeForce 7200 GT Video Card with 512MB, a DVD
burner and CD burner, 2GB DDR RAM and an Athlon 2500+ CPU. Does anyone have
any suggestions?

Other info I forgot to include. The original install of XP was SP1 which has
been updated to SP2 and SP3. The CD I have is a new retail version of XP with
SP2.

Yes, the next that it hangs, copy down the exact message. By the way, isn't
that message from the BIOS?
If so, then you have a serious hardware problem.

Jim,

Thanks for the post, but I posted in another group and found out the problem
was items attached via USB. Turned off all the USB things and got XP to
reinstall without problem
